Can I use an insurance agent for HealthCare.gov, and does it cost more?

You can apply on HealthCare.gov yourself, by phone, with an assister, or with a licensed agent. HealthCare.gov states that licensed agents may be paid a commission by health insurance plans when they help you enroll. That compensation does not add a separate Marketplace premium for using the agent.

Direct answer: Yes, you can use a licensed agent. HealthCare.gov says agents can help you enroll through the Marketplace or handle the process, and that they may be paid a commission by health insurance plans. Using a licensed agent does not change the Marketplace premium. You still authorize the application. David Huff does not represent every plan available in your area.

Who is allowed to help with a Marketplace application?

The HealthCare.gov get-help-applying page lists phone help through the Marketplace Call Center, in-person assisters, and health insurance agents. Assisters are Marketplace-certified. Agents are licensed in the state and certified to sell plans they are appointed to sell. Pick the channel that matches how you want to compare doctors, drugs, and eligibility notices.

Word choice matters here: David Huff is a licensed Florida health agent. Compensation still comes from insurers for appointed enrollments. It is not a separate Marketplace surcharge.

Does the premium go up if I enroll with an agent?

No. The plan's premium is the plan's premium. The credit, if any, is calculated by the Marketplace from your application. Agent compensation is a carrier arrangement. It is not an extra line you pay to HealthCare.gov for choosing local help. If someone asks for cash, gifts, or your HealthCare.gov password as a condition of enrollment, stop and read the fraud-prevention notes on that same HealthCare.gov page.

Does one agent show every Florida plan?

No. Agents can assist only with products they are appointed to sell, and Marketplace inventories vary by county and year. David does not represent every plan available in your area. You can still compare the full HealthCare.gov list yourself, call the Marketplace Call Center, or use another certified helper for a plan he cannot sell.

For unauthorized enrollment issues, see the CMS Marketplace agent crackdown guide. You should know who is listed as the agent on your application.

What should I bring to a review?

Household members, expected MAGI, doctors, prescriptions, and any employer offer. See what counts as income and how to check prescriptions before you enroll. You authorize every application change.

How do I confirm who is on my application?

Log in to HealthCare.gov and read the authorized-user or agent section. If a name you do not recognize is listed, follow the HealthCare.gov fraud-prevention steps and change your password. You should know who can update your application. A local review does not require you to hand over login credentials.

David Huff, a licensed Florida health agent, will tell you when a plan is outside his appointments. That is expected. It is better than implying that one person can bind every Florida contract. You can still enroll yourself in a plan he cannot sell.

Bring identity documents, income estimates, and provider lists to an appointment. You authorize every submission. Call (863) 640-3102 if you want that review in Lakeland or elsewhere in Florida by remote appointment.

What does a local review actually include?

A useful review checks household members, MAGI, doctors, prescriptions, and any employer offer. It also checks who is listed on the HealthCare.gov application. It does not replace your authorization. You still decide whether to submit.

Remote appointments are available across Florida. In-person meetings in Lakeland are by appointment. Bring documents rather than trying to reconstruct income from memory on the call. See Get Help to request a time.

If you prefer to apply alone, the same checklist still applies. Using an agent is optional. The Marketplace premium formula does not change based on that choice.

A review does not enroll you. You authorize HealthCare.gov. Plan availability depends on ZIP code, year, and appointments.
